How do you convey the exceptional, groundbreaking discovery that happens every day at one of most prolific and innovative research institutes in the world? You follow some of the renown scientists around and capture their “why.” You show them in the lab, collaborating with their colleagues and conducting experiments. You show the unique technology they have access to. You bring a bold message of life-changing care in the script.

Working with a communications colleague from Scripps, along with my videographer, I produced this video to help tell the behind-the-scenes story of novel therapeutic drug discovery, and the science that propels that discovery forward. These pioneering scientists are fueled by more than just their curiosity; they’ve watched loved ones suffer. And they have the courage and conviction to do something about it. True heroes.
